Happy New year! Let’s make New year’s resolution for 2025 together

New year always reminds us about the new beginnings. It’s the time for Reflection, Renewal and Resolution. This is the time to say goodbye or bid farewell to the previous year and welcome the new year, many of us see this as an opportunity to make promises to ourselves to improve our lives, habits and overall wellbeing.

But let’s be real- taking New year resolution is a piece of cake but following them is not an easy task to do. How many times we have taken a resolution just to forget about them by the end of January. This is also my story of every year and then regretting it by the end of year.

Whenever you are setting resolutions for new year make sure you set goals for 5 different fields in life, given below are the fields:

  1. Health and wellness: Better physical health, moving your body daily, eating healthy, and quitting unhealthy habits.
  2. Personal Growth: Learning a new skill, try to read more, practice mindfulness or improve self-confidence.
  3. Career and Finance: Advancement in career, new start-up, managing finance
  4. Relationships: To strengthen relation with friends and family, making new connections or improvement in communication skills.
  5. Hobbies and interests: Pursuing a new hobby, try to learn new languages or explore more to know about your interests.

What’s the reason we Make New Year’s Resolution?

Before start talking about the procedure of making resolution, let’s explore the reason why it’s important to make resolution. Here are given a few reasons for it:

  1. Fresh start: A new year is the representative of fresh start, a chance to unfold new chapter and close the old ones.
  2. Reflection and Self-evaluation: The holiday season usually encourages us to reflect on our lives, habits and goals, leading to a desire for change for better next year.
  3. Responsibility: by making all your goals public, we become more responsible to complete them it can work as motivation.

As we know now why it’s important to set resolutions for new year’s, let’s see how we can set new year’s resolution. Here, are some tips to create meaningful, achievable and sustainable resolutions. While resolutions are common, sticking to them regularly can be challenging, which is why one should focus on building sustainable habits rather than setting giant goals.

  1. Make it specific: Instead of making unclear goals like “I’ll be healthier” always try to be specific like “I will exercise for 30 minutes every alternate day”.
  2. Make it with a time-bound: Try to set goals with a deadline and always reward yourself with something after achieving that goal. this will keep you motivated.
  3. Track progress: Try maintaining a journal, sheet or an application to track your progress. Always celebrate your progress and learn from past mistakes.
  4. Create an Action Plan: Try to breakdown your goals into smaller, manageable and achievable steps. Note the problems you can have and find solutions for same.
  5. Be Flexible: If you are not able to complete a task on time, don’t lose hope and leave that work, but try to get back on track.
  6. Celebrate every Milestone: reward yourself for completing a milestone, either its something huge or small.

Common mistakes we Make while selecting resolution:

  1. Setting unrealistic goals: Always try to set goals which you can achieve and something which is impossible for you to achieve.
  2. Lack of clarity: When we lack clarity in plan we usually get distracted easily. Therefore, make a detailed plan and identify the obstacles/problems you may face.
  3. Not Tracking progress: If you do not track your progress regularly, we may not be able to make a clear vision about your progress and may be discouraged.
  4. Giving Up Too Easily: We usually give up because we face setback, but instead of that get inspiration from that and move on
